Technology V ‘The real thing’

I have to say that I am a huge on technology.  Just a few things I own: iPhone, Laptop, Alienware computer, 42’ T.V., and a kindle.  Now I am not mentioning my Boise headphones that cost more than a car payment, my hubby’s Xbox, his computer and Laptop.  Not to mention my sister that lives with us with her boyfriend.  But then I started thinking what would I ever do without these things?
IPhone: My phone has the unlimited texting and data.  I have a computer in the palm of my hands.  I can look up pretty much anything anywhere and get the answer I am wanting.  Do you have any idea how many applications out there, where it makes even an eighty year olds life so much easier?  I have an app that will listen to a song to tell me the name of the song, who it is by, what album it was on and whether if I would like it, purchases it from iTunes.  I won’t even go into the barcode app that can tell me where I can buy an item cheaper somewhere else.  Mine is a 16G, so I can have probably over a thousand songs without a problem.  MP3 is the best creation ever, no more looking for a CD that is hidden under a book case, or who sang it, just pull out the phone and it’s in my hand.
Kindle: Now I haven’t used my Kindle in a while just due to the fact that my iPhone has the kindle app on it so I use the phone mostly because it fits in my pocket.  But…the kindle was a pretty good invention.  No more soft-cover books fall apart because I read it too many times, no more searching for a book when I can just look it up on the site.  I can get books a week early and they are a bit cheaper. (However I don’t know for how much longer on cheaper because Wal-Mart and Target is going to war with Amazon on how they don’t charge sales tax).  Oh and they can never be lost because they are in your memory and if you use to much Amazon (I don’t know about other sites) will keep it in a Vault so you can use your space for other stories!
Computers:  I really don’t know how people could live without a computer.  The computer is my lifeline, and I am not joking.  One, I do my schooling on it, play games, look stuff up, make calls, Skype, and so many other small things.  Alienware makes the gaming so much better, graphics awesome, no lag, and just wow.  Laptops are mobile so I can do homework at work at lunch, take on vacation(which I am doing next week) and still have the information at my hand.  I usually just do homework on the desktop then go and read my stories (have kindle on computer too) in bed with the laptop.
I could go back to the originals: CD’s, plain phone, paper and hardback books, or typewriters. But honestly, why would I want too?

  1. Yes, technology has taken over. I can't go a day without my laptop, and many of my friends just can't understand it. But, I can learn how to do just about anything by doing an internet search, I can find pretty much any item I want, experience different cultures, music, watch tv, listen to music, learn, buy and sell items, write...and all of it for free! I would love to live a simpler techno free life sometimes, but then I look up something on hulu and normally forget about that :)
